FSB Students Win 2nd Place at SDSU Social Venture Challenge

On March 21, 2025, a team of entrepreneurial students from the Fermanian School of Business showcased their creativity and social impact mindset at the SDSU Social Venture Challenge, hosted at San Diego State University’s Conrad Prebys Aztec Union Theatre. Presented by the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation, the competition brought together students from five colleges and universities across Southern California to tackle real-world issues related to food security.

The challenge? Develop and pitch an innovative, sustainable solution to a pressing food-related problem—with $35,000 in prize money at stake.

Representing 2021¹ú²úÂ鶹¾ç, students Valentina Montes, Natalie Landes, and Micah Robyn impressed the panel of judges and took second place among a highly competitive field. Their thoughtful, research-backed venture aimed to address critical gaps in access to nutritious food while empowering local communities.

This experience allowed our students to apply classroom learning to urgent social challenges. Their performance reflected not only their business acumen but also their passion for creating a meaningful impact.

The Social Venture Challenge is designed to inspire the next generation of changemakers—leaders who blend business thinking with a heart for community transformation. We’re proud to celebrate Valentina, Natalie, and Micah’s outstanding achievement and excited to see how they continue to lead with purpose.
